Site Prep & Foundation for Metal Carports
Most carports install directly on level ground, gravel, asphalt, or concrete, but the site still has to be accessible and square. We recommend a level pad that extends slightly beyond the footprint, clean access for the install crew, and overhead clearance for delivery.
Ground Prep
Level the site first. Gravel pads work well for many open carports and help with drainage.
Anchoring
Anchor type depends on the surface — mobile-home anchors for soil, wedge anchors for concrete, and appropriate hardware for asphalt.
Delivery Access
Keep a clear path for the install crew and call us if slopes, fences, or tight access might affect placement.
Frequently Asked Questions About Metal Carports
How much does a metal carport cost?
Metal carports start around $2,500 for a basic single carport and range up to $12,000+ for large double carports and RV covers with lean-tos. Most customers spend between $3,000 and $7,000. Pricing depends on size, style, and options. Contact us for a free quote.
What is the difference between a carport and a garage?
A carport is an open-sided covered structure that protects vehicles from sun, rain, and hail. A garage is fully enclosed with walls and doors. Carports are significantly more affordable and don't require building permits in many areas. We offer both options.
Can I enclose my carport later?
Yes! Many customers start with an open carport and add side panels later. Our steel carports are engineered to support full or partial enclosure upgrades. This is a great way to spread out your investment over time.
Do I need a concrete pad for a carport?
While a concrete pad is ideal, carports can also be installed on compacted gravel or level ground with ground anchors. We will help you determine the best foundation option for your specific situation and soil conditions.
How big of a carport do I need for an RV?
Most RVs need a minimum of 14-foot sidewall height. We recommend at least 18 feet wide and 40 feet long for a standard RV, with taller sidewalls for Class A motorhomes. Our 20x40x14 RV covers are one of our most popular configurations.
Do you offer rent-to-own financing on carports?
Absolutely! Carports are one of our most popular RTO items. Our Rent-To-Own program requires no credit check — just a valid ID and first month's payment. You can start protecting your vehicles right away while spreading payments over time. Call Denton (940) 320-9377 or WF (940) 249-5015 to get started.
